Introduction

A major controversy erupted in Maharashtra as the SSC English question paper went viral on WhatsApp soon after the exam began. The police have arrested five individuals, including the Headmaster and an Assistant Teacher of Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya in Chichad (Lakhundur), for their alleged involvement in the paper leak. The incident has raised concerns over the integrity of the examination system and the security of board exams.

Details of the SSC English Paper Leak

On March 1, SSC students appeared for their English exam. Shortly after the exam commenced, the question paper started circulating on WhatsApp. Authorities were alerted, prompting an immediate investigation into the source of the leak.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Acting on technical leads, Lakhundur police, under the leadership of PI Sachin Pawar, launched a probe. Their investigation led them to Vishal Baburao Phule, the Headmaster of Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya in Chichad (Lakhundur). Upon questioning, Phule provided information that led to the arrest of Assistant Teacher Deepak Dayaram Meshram (35) from Manegaon. Further investigations resulted in the arrest of three more individuals:

  • Mayur Tembre
  • Rakesh Keshavrao Bisen
  • Surendrakumar Sharad Patle

All the accused were presented before the JMFC court, where they were remanded to police custody until March 4.

Motive Behind the Paper Leak

According to PI Pawar, the Headmaster and Assistant Teacher leaked the exam paper out of revenge. Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya had previously been an examination center, but due to the presence of a Beer Bar nearby, the authorities shifted the center to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Vidyalaya. This change reportedly angered the accused, who then deliberately leaked the question paper to tarnish the reputation of the new center.

Conclusion

The SSC English paper leak has exposed serious vulnerabilities in the examination system. While swift police action has led to arrests, the incident highlights the need for stricter measures to prevent such leaks in the future. Authorities must take stringent steps to ensure the credibility of board exams and safeguard the future of students.
